New guest give away
June 2, 2014
Guest will now find a new book to read at Island Acres, “The Motel that Elmo Built,” which is a history of the area, lodging and most importantly, the builder of Island Acres and the buildings.
Here is the review from the backcover:
“The Motel that Elmo Built” is a well-researched and outstanding account of the Island Acres Resort Motel and one of the great but unknown men of Gunnison–Elmo Bevington. Island Acres was and still is one of the great guest accommodations that once dotted the Gunnison River west of Gunnison. Elmo Bevington was one of the most influential men of the Gunnison and South Arkansas regions, beginning in the 1950s. “The Motel That Elmo Built” brings Island Acres and Elmo alive with an easy to read account of both. Pamela Williams has done terrific job writing about Island Acres and a special and important era in the history of the Gunnison country.”
