What is this?
This is a price sheet.
Why don’t other hotels offer this?
The lodging industry, following the airlines, has learned that there is money to be made by doing something called “yield management.” This is when customers are charged more on high demand days, peak times, when booking close to the date and many other multiples. With software, even the smallest of hotels can now do this, therefore a static price sheet is impossible as the rate is a moving target.
At Island Acres, our focus is on customer satisfaction and building lasting relationships. We find that people appreciate consistent pricing. We set our prices before opening in the spring and keep those rates through the season. So even if you book on a night when the town is full, you will pay the normal rate.
Plus, we find it quaint to have a price sheet. People are astonished to find a printed price sheet on our front counter. Some have remarked by saying, “I don’t remember the last time I saw one of these…”
